The Morrison Government has completely dropped the ball on the Future Submarine Program, failing to protect jobs, and they have no answers for South Australians.
The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) report shows Defence took the damning decision to complete “the fabrication of complex hull parts of Future Submarine No. 1 in France.”
This is a direct result of the Morrison Government’s failure to secure guarantees around local content and Australian jobs for the future submarines and future frigates programs.
These are good jobs that should have remained in South Australia but have been shipped off to France.
The ANAO report is a scathing indictment on the Morrison Government’s mismanagement of the future submarines program.
Meanwhile, the Government is still sitting on its hands when it comes to deciding on where the Full Cycle Docking maintenance of the Collins Class submarines will take place.
To have confidence in the Future Submarine Program the Morrison Government must maintain these good defence jobs South Australia.
The livelihoods of hundreds of highly-skilled, dedicated workers who have worked for decades at Osborne are at risk, as well as thousands of indirect jobs.
If we’re going to protect these jobs in South Australia, we need Steven Marshall, Simon Birmingham and the SA Liberals to join us in taking the fight up to Scott Morrison.
