The Queensland LNP don’t support the Morrison Government’s taxpayer funded new coal-fired power station hoax.
Today, the Gladstone Observer reported Queensland Shadow Energy Minister Michael Hart has made clear his party will not provide any taxpayer funding to a new coal-fired power station. With Mr Hart saying, “let’s just rule a line through that straight away.”
The Morrison Government’s support for new coal-fired power stations has always been a hoax to buy votes in Central and North Queensland and has nothing to do with securing jobs or affordable and reliable power in the region.
The truth is the Morrison Government have no plan to secure jobs or reliable power in the region. They never have. They are trying to be tricky with the people of Central and North Queensland.
Their core election promise, to fund a coal fired power station in regional Queensland, gets more shaky by the day.
The LNP are completely divided over this issue and while they quibble Queenslanders suffer.
The truth is Scott Morrison and Angus Taylor will do anything to try to buy off the anti-renewable hardliners in his party room.
Rather than supporting renewable investment which according to the RBA collapsed by 50 per cent in 2019, this Government is still willing to spend billions of taxpayers’ dollars on an indemnity for a new coal-fired power station, which the Australian Industry Group says could cost taxpayers $17 billion.
