A sweetheart deal with one Liberal state is no substitute for genuine energy or climate policy.
Scott Morrison still has no plan to reduce skyrocketing power prices or cut emissions – he is desperately trying to shift all responsibility to the states.
And, to appease the division in his own party room, the Prime Minister has again refused to rule out spending billions of dollars on underwriting new coal-fired power stations.
In an announcement that raises more questions than it answers, the government’s latest (19th) energy policy doesn’t explain where the money is coming from, exactly what it will be used for, how it will be administered and how consumers will benefit.
After their ongoing Sports Rorts scandal exposed this government’s complete lack of credibility, the Prime Minister now wants Australian’s to believe announcing $1 billion with no details will solve his energy and climate credibility crisis.
At the Press Club this week, Scott Morrison was again loose with the truth in pretending that renewable energy investment under his government is “world leading”.
Today, there are more reports that investment in renewables has collapsed as a result of Scott Morrison’s inability to deliver a national energy policy.
